Beacons are small, usually low-priced devices that detects more accurate location within a limited range than Wi-Fi and GPS proximity. Beacons transfer small amounts of data via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) ranging between 5m to 70m (230 feet) depending upon the beacon type, and, as a result, used for indoor location technology, although it can be used outside as well.
